Importance of Newbie Thread A Welcome Threads, or Newbie Thread, is a great way to introduce yourself! Often, when we join a new site we're unsure and a bit 'alone'. We simply don't know what the site is truthfully like, how much fun we're going to have, and what kind of community the site fosters. It can be really hard to try to join a site and feel like you're apart of the online community, even with a very welcoming and warming platform. A Newbie Thread allows new players to also ask questions that they may have about the site, as well! It helps you to paint a picture of who you are, what skills you like to highlight or interests, and what hobbies you enjoy - and as much or as little of that as you would like to cover!
Some Things to Mention
- How did you find us? You never really know when you share a common past site or interest with another player! Simply tell us how you found our site, may help you to find other players who have visited or frequent the same websites, as well. You can also include common internet aliases you are known by and other websites that you have a large presence on. You cannot advertise websites here, though, and should not show off advertisements in your introduction thread.
- What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your past time? What interests do you have? Everyone has something in common somewhere, and there's no better way to discover shared interests than by mentioning them! Simply tell us what you like to do for fun, as a recreational activity, as a hobby, etc!
- How long have you been roleplaying? You can use this statement to help paint a picture of your roleplay skillset, strengths, and/or weaknesses. Even if you're just beginning in the roleplay world, you can still share with us! It's a great way to also tell us what got you into roleplaying.
- What questions do you have? By asking questions that you have, but haven't found the answers to, you're able to ask for clarity. Bigger sites tend to be the most confusing to join, simply because of their dynamics, but even smaller sites are known to cause a period of confusion. It's easy to want clarity on a few compelling questions, to find something confusing, or even to want to offer helpful suggestions and feedback! This is the best way to ask that!
