Regulations Out Of Character Rules Registering With Sparkledog
I. Players must be at least 13 years old. To abide by the Proboards Terms of Service, every user that signs up with Proboards must be at least thirteen years old. Therefore, all players of Sparkledog Nation must be at least 13 years of age or older, to register an account with Sparkledog Nation.
II. Players must only have one Out Of Character account. An OOC account is also known as a "Main Account". Some players prefer to have multiple accounts, in order to better track and separate their many, various characters. While Sparkledog Nation does not condone multiple main accounts, we do allow for multiple In Character accounts.
III. Players are responsible for their own activity. Sparkledog Nation understands the importance of activity checks and required minimum post counts within a set, specified time frame. However, we provide a "hands-off" approach towards players and their cherished accounts. We only remove accounts who have been around longer than a month with no post counts (Under our 'Spamming' Clause).
IV. Accounts cannot contain inappropriate content. Account accounts with Sparkledog Nation must abide by Proboards TOS and Sparkledog Rules. They should not contain sexually implicit content, plagiarized content, or otherwise inappropriate content. Account names (username, nickname, etc) should not contain sexual or inappropriate (profanity, racist, or suggestive) terminology. Account signatures are allowed to contain PG13 content, so long as the signatures still abide by main Proboards TOS.
General Rules I. Players must reframe from posting Spam Content. Content is considered spam when it derails a thread or conversation, or otherwise has nothing to do with the thread or conversation or offers no valuable conversation or input. Posting funny cat videos on Jeremy's thread titled, "How to Have Fun at the Beach" is an example of Spam Content. Created accounts who never post content to the site, are considered Spam Accounts and is, therefore, a type of Spam Content. Accounts must have at least one post by the time they're a month old or may be subject to be removed. The board "Members of Every Tribe" is an exception to this rule.
II. Harassment and Flaming are strictly prohibited. Players should hold healthy, supportive conversations with one another. Players should also respect another player's unique point of view, thoughts, or opinions on a topic. Harassment, flaming, and 'flame wars' are strictly prohibited on the site. This includes - but is not limited to - stalking, repetitive spam messages and emails, purposefully derailing conversations for the sake of argument and disagreement, and excluding other players from a conversation for the sake of exclusiveness. Besides private in character threads, players should welcome all active members of the community in welcoming conversational threads.
III. Sparkledog Nation reserves the right to modify, add, or remove any rule. The staff on Sparkledog Nation have the full authority to modify, add, remove, or otherwise edit the rules and regulations of the site. Staff members have the right to modify regulations with the intent to provide a better user experience for everyone on the site. In the aid of transparency, every modification must have a news update, covering what modifications were added and why. Minor fixes, such as grammatical fixes to the bylaws, will not require an update.
IV. Players will refrain from conversations or discussions dealing with illegal activities or drugs. Sparkledog Nation does not condone the use or possession of illegal drugs and does not condone illegal activities. Players will not post threads, or participate in threads, that highlight and/or 'applaud' illegal activities or drugs. Players must refrain from conversations that are not legal or acceptable, or that are not appropriate for a minor to participate in. This covers alcohol, cigarettes, and non-prescription drugs, as well.
V. Players will refrain from conversations or discussions that are sexual in nature. Players should not post sexually implicit or explicit material on the site, whether in writing or in imagery. Players should not entertain such conversations, or post on threads with inappropriate conversations. There is a zero-tolerance policy for material that is above a PG13 rating, whether IC or OOC.
Imagery & Art I. Players must only post artwork that they have permission to use or share. Players can give themselves permission to share works of art that they, themselves, have created. Players may also post works of art that are not theirs with permission from the original artist(s) as well. As well, players are allowed to use and share artwork that has already been given general permission to redistribute or use. Players must make sure they are abiding by the original artist(s) rules or requests when sharing their works of art.
II. Players must accurately credit all artist(s) for works of art they use or share. Whether you are photo-manipping, sharing, or otherwise using another artist's images with permission, you must accurately credit them. Credits may either be listed within the thread and post with the work of art or as a watermark or otherwise noticeable seal on the work of art. Players must credit the artist in a way that is appropriate for the artist. (Example, if the artists request their watermark to remain intact, then you must honor this request.)
III. Signatures should be no larger than 600x600. Click Here for an example of a safe image size. Images that stretch our site must be coded and/or modified so as not to stretch the dimensions of the site. Signatures should not be obtrusively long so that they could become noticeably unpleasant to scroll through or intrusively hard to load. Text and images all count towards the signature size.
IV. Images in Posts should be no wider than 600px. The height of images, whether posted artwork or used as background visuals on a post, should not exceed 600 pixels in length. Artwork wider than 600 pixels may stretch the site and interfere with the site's graphics. Players should either modify their artwork (or manipulate the code used to share their artwork) so that it does not stretch the site. Players should refrain from blatantly posting images that with stretch the site, without first modifying the image in such a way as not to interfere with the graphics of the site.

Regulations In Character Rules Roleplaying Requirements
I. Sparkledog Nation does not have a minimum word count limit. The site believes that an author's best work is done through the content and quality of their work. There are no word count or character limits required when roleplaying on Sparkledog Nation. Players are encouraged to give quality replies when roleplaying and responding to IC threads, instead. Players are also encouraged to grow their skills together, as a means of perfecting their literary 'voice' and skills.
II. Players are responsible for keeping their characters active. Sparkledog Nation does not believe that an author's best work comes from constant deadlines and forced activity. Players are encouraged to keep their characters active on the forum but are not subject to activity checks. Accounts must still abide by the Spam Clause, however. Characters who are members of IC groups or packs may be subjected to activity checks as a requirement for their specific character group(s).
III. Players are allowed to have an unlimited number of character slots. Players can create and play as many characters as they can create and keep active. It is up to the player to keep all of their characters active, and not up to the dedicated staff on the site. Players can also choose not to have any characters on the site, and to stick with the OOC aspect of the site, as well. Play your way.
IV. Players are allowed in character accounts. In Character accounts, also known as side accounts or character accounts, are permissible for players to have. These accounts' main focus should be IC events and are used as side accounts to roleplay out the lives of their characters. Players cannot have multiple OOC accounts, however, and should limit each character to one IC account.
V. The site welcomes multiple types of species of characters. We allow the creation of all current extant (living) species of animals for character creation. The roleplay world of Sparkledog Nation is set up in an 'untouched wilderness' location and allows for more primitive settlements for humans. All animals are allowed and welcomed on the site for character creation. We even allow sparkledogs, sparklecats, or rainbowwolves on the site. Your characters are allowed to have odd, non-natural, or eccentric coat colorations or markings.
VI. Sparkledogs Nation is a consent roleplay website. We do not allow characters to kill another player's character without the permission of that character's player. Every player is entitled to the right of character integrity and license. Likewise, godmodding and powerplaying is not allowed here. Attacks should be written as attempts to allow the original player's judgment on how they hit and what damages they caused, and players should only roleplay what their characters' do unless given permission otherwise.
VII. Characters of all genders, orientations, and personalities are welcomed here. You can simply represent your character as their gender or their biological sex and gender for trans characters. Characters can fall in love with whomever their hearts desire. The only thing that controls a character's personality is how other characters react and treat your character.
Leadership Rules I. Characters are allowed to claim unclaimed land. If a character wishes to stake a claim on the unclaimed land, they must post a "Claiming" thread, and give would-be challengers a grace period of one week (7 days) to reply to their thread. Challenge threads that go a week or better without challenges are considered to be a successful claim.
II. Challenges will be handled in a moderated thread. A designated staff member will create an official challenge thread, where the challenger and the leader will 'face off' over the land claim and ownership rights. Both sides are given a time limit of two weeks (14 days) to post their reply to the official challenge thread. Unless an extension is given by Staff, if either side does not post within the specified time frame, it will be considered a forfeit, and the other team will be the victors. Each challenge thread allows five posts from both sides of the fight, for a total of 10 posts, before the thread will be judged. (We grade on skill level and accuracy for characters).
III. Packs are given a grace period of one month between challenges. While characters are allowed to challenge currently occupied settlements of land for ownership, designated packs or official groups are given a grace period between challenges. After the completion of each challenge, the characters are given a grace period of one full calendar month, before they can be challenged again.
IV. Characters can only challenge a claimed territory in groups of three or more. Stand-alone challenges are acceptable for unclaimed land and territories. For already claimed settlements and packs, characters must have two accompanying party members (not played by the same RPers), in order to challenge for the land. Characters cannot challenge solely or in groups of only two members.
V. Boards with 30+ monthly posts cannot be challenged. Packs and settlements who generate a lot of activity will be exempt from challenges. Packs who generate 30 or more unique, in character responses and roleplays, will be exempt from land challenges. This status is given as a reward - for each consecutive month (past) that you retain an appropriate number of "active" posts, you will be ineligible (present) for land challenges by other groups.
VI. Players must petition to roleplay more than one lead character. Known as many things such as rulers, kings, alphas, etc, lead characters tend to play an important role in the roleplay world. Players are limited to only being allowed to roleplay as one character in a leadership role unless they successfully petition for the right to roleplay a second lead character. The right to roleplay multiple lead characters is reserved, and given based on the activity levels of all current characters, including current lead characters.

Geography Climate and Location Location Sparkledog Nation is set up in a fictional world similar to the geography and climate of our current world. The world of Sparkledog Nation is bordered on all edges by vast reaches of coastal ocean waters or impassible stretches of mountain ranges and dangerous canyons. The inhabitants of Sparkledog Nation are mostly native species who have lived their entire existence within its borders. There are very few safe passages over "The Ridge", that link to the other side, where some character may have crossed over.
It is thought that the Beast characters wandered into Sparkledog Nation long, long ago through the Ridge. These are strange characters with unique looks unlike any creature and are known by many names. Sometimes they are called "demons", "spawns", "hellspawn", or "mutants". You must petition to roleplay as one of these unique creatures. (Petitioning is closed.)
Climate Climate is a varied experience, depending on what area or region of the Nation you're currently residing in. The Nation experiences all four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The land has a generally hot and dry summer, a generally wet and humid spring, a generally cool and breezy autumn, and a generally cold and frozen winter. Some areas may experience cooler summers, while other areas may experience hotter winters, as well. It is best to look at the current geography of the packs or settlements for that area.
Neutral lands tend to have an average weather pattern for the region. All neutral areas are found within the Acts category of the site. A more varied climatic experience is generally accepted for the unclaimable areas. Neutral lands are not eligible for land claims, as they are meant as a place for characters without packs to mingle and roleplay.
Claimed lands and unclaimed lands are found within the Romans category of the site. Leaders of the claimed lands are allowed to write their own geographies for their land. Unclaimed, claimable lands are expected to follow the generic pattern for their fictional landscape and region, however.

Warning System How we discipline Purpose of a Warning System The warning system on the site is meant to facilitate transparency and understanding on how matters are handled on the site. Whether a player is simply receiving a warning or they are receiving a temporary (or permanent) ban, the warning system is meant to make a clear connection behind the reasons why the user has received the selected warning measurements. The warning system is based on collective points and resets at yearly intervals.
The system resets by -1 point for each consecutive year that the player has not been repeating the same inappropriate actions on the site. The reset date is effective according to the last known occurrence of the incident. Players will earn points for each unique type of violation (only points will display).
Our Point System First Offense - 1 Point Second Offense - 2 Points Third Offense - 4 Points Fourth Offense - 8 Points
For the first offense, players will accrue 1 warning point. As they repeatedly break the same rules, they will double the points they've accrued from their previous warning. Each type of warning that the player receives can accrue its own warning points and the collective total amount of points will reflect on the level and degree of the corrective action the player may face. Players will always receive a private message detailing the points accrued, what rule they have broken, and what corrective actions are needed. Players can also request a "Hearing", handled by staff members.
A Hearing: A hearing is a specialized case where a player believes that they did not break the rule, or does not feel that they deserved the warning points they've accrued. They are expected to message an administrator or designated staff member to request the hearing. A specialized board accessible to only the staff members and the affects member(s) will be placed up during the hearing. The ruling from the hearing is the final ruling on the case.
Warning Levels Private Message - 1+ Points Every offense or break of the rules will result in a private message to the player, detailing the violation of the rule(s) affected and any corrective actions they may need to take.
1 Hour Ban - 3+ Points For players who have accrued over 3 points collectively, they will receive an hour-long ban from the site. This will affect OOC and IC accounts, respectively. Players will receive a message detailing their total allocated points. They will also be informed of the temporary ban, which will take place no longer than 24 Hours from the private message, and last no longer than 60 minutes.
1 Week Ban - 7+ Points For players who have accrued over 7 points collectively, they will receive a week-long ban from the site. This will affect OOC and IC accounts, respectively. Players will receive a message detailing their total allocated points. They will also be informed of the temporary ban, which will take place no longer than 24 Hours from the private message, and last no longer than 7 days.
1 Month Ban - 12+ Points For players who have accrued over 12 points collectively, they will receive a month-long ban from the site. This will affect OOC and IC accounts, respectively. Players will receive a message detailing their total allocated points. They will also be informed of the temporary ban, which will take place no longer than 24 Hours from the private message, and last no longer than 31 days.
Permanent Ban - 18+ Points For players who have accrued over 18 points collectively, they will receive a permanent ban from the site. This will affect OOC and IC accounts, respectively. Players will receive a message detailing their total allocated points. They will also be informed of their permanent ban, which will take place no longer than 48 Hours from the private message. This is a never-ending ban, that will remain in effect for the duration of the site's existence.
The warning levels are put into place to try to help players who may be adjusting to the site. Therefore, the warning levels are pretty forgiving, and should generally take a generous amount of time to receive the harshest level which is a permanent ban. Players are encouraged to review the rules, all necessary threads of importance, and to ask as many questions as they can, to avoid receiving warnings, instead. Please, never feel afraid to "reach out".
Players can also accrue points for separate matters, collectively. They can accrue points for each individual break of a rule or regulation, with or without prior warnings for previous ones, dependent on the speed at which they break the collective rules. "Collective points" refers to a player's total allocated points.
