Ikon, Kami Ryu of Kyokai The black and blue-hued wolf never quite understood the complexity of life. He could comprehend the fact that life at its basic core was simple, yet he regarded the gift of life itself as something strange and different entirely. You lived for a short period of time, then you would eventually die. Therefore, it was what one chose to do with their gift of life that would define who they were, and shape their very character from the ground floor up. You are the most complicated facet of life itself that exists inside of your unique worldly experience. Your emotions, thoughts, and very point of view defined everything around you and could change the way you interpret and interact with the ecosystem around you.
The black hued wolf studied the forest surrounding through his emerald green eyes. As he rested the blue saddle marking of his backside up against the trunk of a large, old oak tree, he contemplated how time created a metamorphosis of every living thing within its grasp. Youth had a smooth and soft, almost perfect complexion, its newness too fresh to have been tainted by simple existence. He studied the thick, dense trunk of an impressively old pine tree and the depth of the carved trails of its body. Age pulled on every living creature like an invisible force, changing and marking them with the sands of time. Smoothness traded places with coarseness, newness with wisdom. Wrinkles served as a trademark of one’s lost youth, as they journeyed on the trek of living life.
The multi-hued wolf focused on his one true mission that gave him purpose in life and brought him great joy: he had an empire to build. He thought about the embers of his empire consciously and with much consideration in the quiet of his mind, as he watched the waking world around him unfurl. The wolf noticed different birds darting and flying through the dense limbs of the canopy high above. Red and yellow songbirds whistled and sung sweet melodies that were, in reality, arguments between each other over minor differences and misunderstandings. An amused expression of a smile slowly slipped its way across the black furred wolf’s muzzle as he watched the debate unfurl before his eyes. The yellow warbler chased the red cardinal past different trees and around their long, serpentine branches. No matter what, life always seemed to find a way. The present day would never cease to exist entire or put itself on a momentary pause simply for another event that hadn’t even occurred.
Ikon used his hind legs to scratch the flesh just underneath his chin, relieving himself of an itchy sensation relatively shortly after it formed. The sharp claws gently raked themselves across the epidermis flesh of his chin, careful not to snag the flesh and claw it open. Ikon considered that his greatest key in this puzzling mystery of life that would help him lead and save the massive canine population was research and knowledge. Perhaps if the black and blue wolf was better suited at correlating the natural phenomenons and events that unfurled within everyday life, he would be better adapted for addressing the real concerns for members of his species. Ikon would lead them all, paw in paw, to safety and redemption through enlightenment and truth. Life itself was a temporary fix that glued all of us inside of our physical cocoon, borne simply through addition from the moment we are conceived. He would use his ever-expanding knowledge and point of view to share his cause and search for others that he could help educate and save.

Lost and Found Swiftly she strode, ears perked and eyes peeled. With determination in her stance and confidence in her step, the youthful she wolf pressed through the forest at an easy trot, seeking adventure, from anyone and anything that would provide it. The weather proved warmer than she'd hoped, but it was not altogether unbearable. Pausing, she shook off some excess fur then breezed away as it fluttered to the ground. A fresh breeze touched her face as she licked her nose, and raked through her fur gently bringing with it the scents of the forest. Though it smelled different from the old willow forest she used to roam, she still enjoyed the overall environment that a forest provided. There was ample shade in denser areas, causing cooler spots within the wood, and underbrush created unlikely resting spots.
A confident smirk played across her lips as she approached a clearing. Just across the way came the scent of a fellow canine, and with company came adventure. Though the she wolf felt at ease in solitude for a long period of time, she knew that adventures were better shared than experienced alone. A loud, barking greeting overpowered any sound her paws may have made crunching twigs and brushing plants aside as she moved. "AHOY, YE!" Even before she saw him, she greeted the other canid creature. After a few seconds, she plodded within eyeshot and stopped. Tail wagging slowly and ears high and pointed forth, she regarded the other excitedly.

Ikon, Kami Ryu of Kyokai The warming planet’s heated spring day created an uncomfortable experience for the canine. It was too warm for the planet that he lived on. Ikon gazed at the landscape all around him with his emerald eyes, studying the smaller creatures as they flourished about their habitats. Summer was quickly approaching. Therefore, the heat of the spring days only amplified their touch upon the world, easing off only to give way to the moon and the night itself.
The black and blue wolf largely considered himself stuck inside a wilderness isolation for the time being. Although squirrels had scurried up the trunks of mighty oak and pine trees that scattered the forest domain, and bees still buzzed from flower to flower collecting pollen from their hidden caves, he could not spot another creature that he would regard favorably on his level of intellect. Wolves were sprinkled throughout this great landscape, and though he was proof of his own kind’s existence, it seemed they were perhaps partying and enjoying their time somewhere else.
“I can accept this.”
This was a comment that he muttered underneath his breath because he meant to keep it to himself. It was similar to an inside joke since it was a reply muttered aloud to a thought that occurred from within. He disregarded the need for friendship or companionship for the time being, and instead found that he could better venture into study and research with his excess of solitude.
But, he wasn’t alone?
It would seem that just as the black and blue wolf pulled himself to stand up completely upon his four legs, another would crash his isolation and interject herself into the moment. He shook his head, knocking a thick tuft of fur upon his head sideways as he marveled at the beauty before him. “Hello, miss.” She seemed full of enthusiasm, as though a light burned from deep within herself. A light that shines within. So this world hasn’t completely tainted your child-like wonder, I bet...
“You've an interesting accent.” He commented, whole-heartedly meaning it as a compliment in and of itself. Where was she from, and what hidden knowledge did she have stored away inside that brain of her? What stories unfurled beyond her physical form? “Mind me asking, where you’re from?”
Then it dawned on him. “And pardon my rudeness. My name is Ikon.” He added. His tail, which shot up high in the air during their initial encounter, began to wag enthusiastically. Ikon considered that perhaps, instead, he would gain a friend in the end, after all. If nothing else, she would alleviate the loneliness and the isolation. Would he save her as well, he wondered? And was there something behind the inner child-like glow that she had burning inside of her?

Lost and Found Her newly found partner in crime seemed mildly startled, at least, but she had never claimed to be subtle. Her initial ebullience waned not as the other made a couple remarks.Light reflected off her fur as it streamed through the canopy above, dancing across her back and snout as leaves rustled in the wind. As light touched her softly and wind fluffed her fur, she seemed to be in constant motion; and true, perpetual movement appeared her natural state of being. Even her paws, antsy, eager, kneaded into the dirty earth beneath and tramped lightly side to side with her faint swaying, Without warning, she reared as a mare would, tossing her head and balancing on her hind paws for a moment. Upon landing, she replied.
"'m froom foar off, a place that doosn't matter anymore," she stated dismissively, as though the question, while valid, had no real value to her in the conversation. "Call me- eh... Foghlaí." With a nod and a self-satisfied hum, she got right back into what she came for, already steering the conversation away from cordialities. "Have ya seen any reindeer? Oi'm lookin' for 'em!" She narrowed her eyes and leveled her head with her shoulders, glancing about dramatically, licking her nose, and letting sway her tail. Her long standing quest for this elusive beast had begun with a story, one much more fanciful than could be deemed necessary; who knew how it would have affected her imaginative mind. Now she was on the hunt for something that perhaps only existed in her own reality. But that was enough for her, having absolute faith in her own perceptions. Tedium never suited her.
Without seeming to wait for an answer, Foghlaí snuffled at leaves and bark, nose wiggling, eyes wide. She remained within earshot and eyesight of Ikon, but would not stand still for more than a moment.

Ikon, Kami Ryu of Kyokai The smaller branches on the trees around them rustled in the wind. The fading light that cast it’s shadow down from the heavens above danced in odd arrays about the forest floor below. Loud birds screeched up above and shot off on a flurry of feathered wings. Their movements were so fast that if you tried to follow them and blinked, it would be unlikely you would have easily kept up. The black Timber Wolf was shorter than his companion, though he seemed to have splashes of brighter hues decorating the top of his cranium, running its course along his back, and running up the back of his legs. The His multi-hued tail stopped wagging slowly as the female recounted her reluctance to traverse down memory lane into her history. His lips faltered, curving into a silently ‘Oh?’ But he shook it off and forced his focus to remain steady.
She was absolutely fascinating in her secrecy. Did Ikon peg her wrong this entire time? Still, the childlike wonder stuck to her like sweet, sticky honey infused into her fur. It glimmered and glowed from within similarly. Ikon could admit that the sun’s radiant hues that shifted and tumbled through the various leafy branches also helped illuminate this glow. That seemed too simple an explanation. “Our history often forges our futures. They can make or break a being’s entire spirit.” He added calmly. He was forged through the lifeblood of his future, cast as the prominent and future Ryu for the pack. Oh Gods, speak to me and speak through me. Can we help this poor creature?
When she leaped up, Ikon’s furry black tail painted with a medium blue hue bordered by a rustic red hue shot straight up. His lips curled for a second as his fur ruffled up. Surely this was not an attack! Of course, all outsiders are inferior to Kyokai. Why should I think that she would be different just because she seemed so…innocent? He growled, a low and warning tone that only dispersed into calmer silence when she landed again. “Foghlaí…You should be careful about jumping up and startling someone like that.” He warned. Then she took off to sniff through the forested region going on about reindeer. Weren’t reindeer found in colder environments? He was no expert seeing as his pack was nestled neatly into a swampy wilderness who often experience actively humid seasons.
“If it’s reindeer meat you’re after, you’re betting off trying in the northernmost mountainous regions of this land.” He commented. He followed her warily and only allowed a safe distance between them. The dark furred male sniffed through the scattered debris of broken branches and crunched up leaves that littered the forest floor. He jumped over an impressively large, overturned tree and sniffed along the base of it as he tried to pick up the scents of the surrounding animals. “Squirrel…some deer, for sure…I don’t smell any reindeer having done through here though. Maybe you’ll get lucky?” He added with a half-smile. The Gods must have sent him out here and the Gods must have put her in his path, but he could not determine the logic nor reason. This was one of those moments in life where only patience and time could help unfold the truth. Oh, Ryujin, speak to me. You help me guard our pack’s borders and keep the rising tides at bay when we need it most. What purpose does meeting this young female wolf serve?

Lost and Found Though she hadn't shown any indication, the young energetic wolf had indeed seen Ikon's instinctual reaction when she had reared up. She wasn't here for a scuffle, but being disconnected as she was from reality, Foghlaí had to pause a moment to reorganize her thoughts before realizing why sudden, seemingly aggressive movements were a bad idea. "Sorry about that," she replied solemnly before the moment passed.
Foghlaí listened to Ikon's explanation, his suggestion on the whereabouts of the prey she sought. He did have a point, and to the she wolf's delight, he seemed to be generally following her. "We'll see, we'll see. I guess Noorth es a good direction. Let's go!" With that, she bounded off through the underbrush, disturbing those smaller creatures which called this place their homes. She didn't go too far, her active senses drawing her inevitably toward various spots for a cursory sniff. A myriad of distinct traces lead in an even larger myriad of directions, though most ended up running spirals around tree trunks, leading up into the lush leaves. When Ikon appeared and began sniffing alongside a sizeable log, Foghlaí had to suppress the urge to tackle him off. Her natural inclinations tended toward chaos, and she had yet to find someone who could curb her enthusiasm or at least handle it. As such, her adventures were gradually but most definitely teaching her some sort of restraint, out of pure necessity to keep things civil. Licking her nose and giving her fur a good shake off, Foghlaí turned her head slightly and eyed Ikon as her tail flagged and her restraint began to crumble. A mischievous twinkle in her eye and a cheeky grin tugging at her lips gave her the distinct air of a laughing puppy who has already done something funny in its head as she stood there quickly and visibly losing control of her impulses.

Ikon, Kami Ryu of Kyokai The Kami Ryu studied the strange female as he wondered through the forest alongside her. Her sense of energetic determination was almost idiotic in its self-serving manner. What earthly need did she have for a reindeer that could not be solved by the red deer and white-tails of the forest? His black ears folded back, and he parted the blue-and-red dipped jaws of his snout apart to laugh just underneath his breath as he raced off in a different direction. Still, he searched considering this Ikyoto to be the physical opposite of Omiokane, the kami of wisdom and intelligence. Perhaps, that is why outsiders are revered as Ikyoto. He thought with a solitary nod of his head.
Ikon’s tail waved like a banner in the air as he trotted up to a rather large oak tree and pressed his snout against it. There had been a scuffle here – two squirrels and some kind of heated emotion. Were they fighting over something? Another squirrel, perhaps? Or maybe, who rightfully owned the storage of nuts that one of them had stashed somewhere near this tree? He turned away and continued running through the forest, jumping over large bushes, and trampling across smaller limbs. The old tree branches that littered the forest floor along with their discarded leaves snapped and crunched underneath his paw steps. Ikon did not falter, however. “What need do you have of a reindeer? Why not a white-tail, instead?” He asked. Her posture changed for a second, causing Ikon to slow down and trot as he considered the strange construction of her face. Does she find this hilarious?
Had the Kami been duped into nothing more than a game? He stood with his tail shot straight up into the air. It pointed to clouds above and his lips twitched though he fought the urge to curl them up. No, he needed to remain calm and collected in this moment. Though, piecing her together and figuring her out was no simple feat. He was the incarnation of the ocean itself and needed to show the restraint of the waning tides. “Be honest with me. Is this some type of game? Or do you have purposeful business with the reindeer? I have a pack to lead and must return before the floods rise too high and try to sweep us out” It was his sole responsibility for keeping the rising water levels at bay, after all. A burden that weighed heavily on his chest.

Lost and Found Well, Ikon's question most certainly deflated her enthusiasm a bit. But that is not to say she was upset. The spunky she-wolf had a lot of excitement to spare, and an attention disorder to fuel it, and she rebounded quickly from such small matters as changes in other people's mood. Was it a game? Was anything not a game? "I 'ave business with the reindeer, but that es between me and their leaders," she replied enigmatically with a nod to herself, not meaning to be rude or supercilious, more meaning to express secrecy and importance, as if divulging little tidbits of an espionage mission.
"Wait, you have a pack?" This caught Foghlaí off guard. For some reason she had a very hard time fathoming the existence of packs, having been alone so long. She had sworn off any community she was once part of, burned it from her life both literally and figuratively. Her entire demeanor shifted once more; her tail started to sway and her tense muscles relaxed now that she was no longer preparing to pounce. She even let out a little pant of youthful excitement. "Are you the leader?" She began to sniff around, trying to gather some inkling of where the pack could be, as though it would be that obvious. As lonesome as she may like to stay, Foghlaí was for all intents and purposes, a social animal. She was just very independent as well.

Ikon, Kami Ryu of Kyokai The black wolf sat down. Bits of dried leaves crunched underneath his weight as he parked his black-and-brown rump on the ground and swished his blue-and-red dipped, black tail to curl around his legs. This she-wolf was a strange one for sure. Something uncanny about her. Strange. He didn’t know whether to leave and high-tail it back to his pack or whether he should stay and hear out her story. Part of him wanted to trek along to see what ‘business’ she had of these reindeer. Weren’t they something of a prideful sort of deer? Did she cross paths with them unfavorably, and so she was left with a bitter sting in her mouth? “Business…” He hummed underneath his tongue with a sly smile.
A gentle breeze ensnared its invisible fingers through his fur and pulled at his short coat. Ikon raised one of his back legs up and scratched above his ear with his blue-dipped foot at the spot where his red marking mixed with the black fur of his coat. She was possibly quite cracked in the head. No wolf should humble themselves so much that prey became anything short of just that – being prey. He stood back up and shook himself off firmly as he mentally weighed his options. There was still a good chance that he could pick up a meal or two from this excursion. If he was super lucky then he may even be able to sneak away with a pup or two for their domestic flock. This would mean that they would grow up as sturdy and strong reindeer who were not to be eaten until the day they finally succumb to sickness or old age so overpowering that it takes their life, but some such sacrifices for a greater service of Kyokai were often made.
If his sudden stop didn’t make her stop and turn around, Ikon would rush back off through the undergrowth and chase after her to catch back up as he considered her words. How much information could he impart with this Ikyoto? None. Should he delve too much he would either have to take her alive kicking and screaming as a Bagu, convince her of their superiority as a Konchu, or duel until one was standing. The Kami know this is not what they’ve sent me here for. The scent on the air and their rather amicable, although somewhat rocky, relationship did not deserve to trail on so long only to end in bloodshed. “Something like that and more.” He smiled and nodded as he now played in the fine art of secrecy and diplomacy. Where were your chess pieces, miss? Who was going to call checkmate? “But I’m not alone in my field.” He added whimsically.
